Here we are at Paekakariki Beach, by the Surf Club. We had just been shown some great tips for boogie boarding. We are just about to try them out. This is the first day of our 3 day camp, 3 March, 2010. Zoe and Mark, the Surf Lifeguards told us how to be sunsmart and to to be safe in the sea. We played neat games with them too.

Trip to Kapiti Island Nature Reserve 19/05/2010

It's our third try and we have finally arrived at Kapiti Island Nature Reserve. We are making our way toward the visitor shelter to hear a talk about the island, its history and how predators have been removed. Already we can hear and see the the endangered birds.

Visit to Kapiti Island

We hope to visit Kapiti Island Nature Reserve on Monday, 3 May. The island is about 5km off the Kapiti district coast. We need really good weather or the trip will be postponed. Fingers crossed. (We had to wait until 19 May to get there - wind and waves were the problems).
